The Inspiron One 2310 is a very good looking laptop, slim and stylish -- better than the Dell Studio One 19. The Dell Inspiron One 2310 is like any other all-in-one PC with a photo-frame design -- similar to the Lenovo IdeaCentre B500, MSI Wind Top AE2220, and Lenovo IdeaCentre B300, for example. The Dell Inspiron One 2310 all-in-one has a nice polished matte shell with a gunmetal gray shade on on the back panel -- it certainly looks better than other all-in-one desktops we’ve reviewed, with the exception of the all-aluminum Apple iMac. The desktop’s two onboard stereo speakers are placed below the screen bezel.
With the inclusion of a wireless keyboard and mouse, the Dell Inspiron One 2310 does well to limit cable clutter on the desk -- you need just one cable to switch on and start using the Inspiron One 2310 desktop. We didn’t have any complaints from the Dell Inspiron One 2310 PC’s build quality; it’s nice and solid. If anything, it’s tilting stand comes across as slightly thin, but it isn’t flimsy and supports the weight of the all-in-one-desktop PC pretty well.
Usability
The Dell Inspiron One 2310 all-in-one PC comes with a 23-inch widescreen display supporting a full-HD 1920x1080 pixel resolution. The screen is matte in nature -- unlike most popular all-in-one desktop PCs. We really liked the 23-inch screen on the Inspiron One 2310, despite its non-glossy screen it manages to pull off very good brightness, contrast levels, and color reproduction is also better-than-average for its class of all-in-one PC. Viewing angles are also good with acceptable color shift. Reading text and watching HD movies was a nice experience on the Dell Inspiron One 2310 all-in-one PC.
The Dell Inspiron One 2310 also has an optional multi-touch screen version which supports touch input. But since ever touch-enabled all-in-one PC can’t do without a mouse or keyboard, it is best to look at this function as an add-on feature.
The Inspiron One 2310 comes with a 2MP webcam for videochats over the Web. It also comes with a useful webcam software to record videos and snap photos and upload them on YouTube or Flickr, respectively -- and have some fun in the process.
The keyboard is nice and springy to type on with raised keys. There’s a roomy palmrest on the keyboard as well to park your palm, wrist while typing. The Inspiron One 2310 PC’s keyboard comes with a dedicated number pad, multimedia buttons and other quick-launch buttons on the top row -- there’s a nice circular volume dial, too. The keyboard works smoothly over the air up to 18 to 20 feet.
The wireless mouse has a smooth glossy finish and medium-sized, fits nice and comfortably in your palm. There is no lag whatsoever between actually moving the mouse and its corresponding pointer movement on screen.
Hardware and Features
The Dell Inspiron One 2310 is largely composed of laptop hardware -- its processor and graphics are mobile versions, usually found in laptops -- although that necessarily isn’t a bad thing. Most OEMs equip all-in-one PCs with laptop hardware to make them powerful without compromising the design and form factor.
The Dell Inspiron One 2310 comes with an Intel Core i5-540M 2.53-GHz processor (Turbo Boosts up to 3.06-GHz under load), 4GB DDR3 RAM, 500GB 7200rpm hard drive and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 graphics with 1GB RAM. The Inspiron One 2310’s basic configuration is second best only to the Lenovo IdeaCentre B500 in our Top 5 All-in-One Desktop PCs list.
The Dell Inspiron One 2310 comes with a host of connectivity options and ports. On its right edge are two USB ports, 7-in-1 card reader, two audio jacks and the power switch; on the left you find its tray-loading 8x DVD writer.
On the back panel, near the base, is the Inspiron One 2310 PC’s remaining input-output ports. You’ll find four USB ports, Gigabit ethernet, TV tuner, VGA, HDMI, SPDIF, and line out rear audio ports -- there's also component cable ports on the back. For wireless connectivity, the Inspiron One 2310 PC has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth options.
The only thing missing is an eSATA port, it would have completed a formidable array of features and connectivity options on the Dell Inspiron One 2310 all-in-one PC. We would've also liked a remote controller with the Inspiron One 2130. The desktop comes with 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. Essential software like Dell DataSafe for online data backup and Dell Support Center (for app-based personalized support resources) is also present on the Inspiron One 2310 all-in-one PC.
The Dell Inspiron One 2310’s WorldBench 6 score of 121 is the highest amongst all-in-one desktop PCs featured in our Top 5 All-in-One Desktop PCs list -- thanks largely to its fast, multi-threaded processor. Similary, its PC Mark Vantage score is also better than the Lenovo IdeaCentre B500’s. However, the Inspiron One 2310’s ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 isn’t as good as the IdeaCentre B500’s Nvidia GeForce GT240M graphics.
In a similar vein, don’t expect to game at full-HD resolution with the latest games on the Dell Inspiron One 2310, you’ll be highly disappointed. Casual gaming, at low settings and low expectations, should be possible though -- from our experience, all-in-one PCs and gaming rarely go hand in hand. The Dell Inspiron One 2310 does very well in terms of multimedia and entertainment, display is very good for watching movies, TV as well and the accompanying onboard sound isn’t bad.

Onboard speakers provide clear sound at full-volume, but the stereo separation -- despite claiming to have surround sound -- between the two speakers isn’t great, probably because they aren’t placed very far apart. However, if you aren’t satisfied with the onboard sound, the Inspiron One 2310 offers plenty of options to connect external speakers.
Throughout our testing, the Dell Inspiron One 2310 ran fairly cool and didn't overheat. Overall, we feel the Inspiron One 2130 is a very good all-in-one PC in terms of performance -- almost at par with the Lenovo IdeaCentre B500.
