The Cloud offering free Wi-Fi at 56 London Overground stations

Image1

Travellers passing through any one of 56 of London's Overground stations will be able to get an hour of Wi-Fi access free.
A deal has been signed by London Overground Rail Operations Limited and BSkyB-owned venture, The Cloud, to provide 60 minutes of free internet access to registered passengers. It will be available at a range of stations across the capital by the end of the year.
Roll-out will start this summer at stations including West Hampstead, Shepherd's Bush, Wapping and Hackney Central. Travellers who want to use the service will have to register just once. Once their hour is up, they will be offered a pay-as-you-go option.
Wired.co.uk has put questions to The Cloud team about the range of the service, namely how much of each station will be covered, the speeds offered (helpfully, we've been told only "broadband speed") and what kind of uptake they are expecting, but there has been no answer as yet.
The news comes after an announcement of a contract between London Underground and Virgin Media that will see free Wi-Fi coverage at 80 of London's Underground Stations by the start of the Olympics. After the Games comes to an end, the service, which will be not be accessible within the tunnels, will be available on a pay-as-you-go basis.
