As Amitabh Bachchan is said to be paired with Katrina Kaif in ‘Mehrunnisa’, we list his previous ageless collaborations

OK, so while Katrina fans are shrinking at the thought of her being paired with the Big baap of Bollywood, this isn’t the first time that Big B has worked with an actress who was born decades after him. While Katrina is a good 42 years younger than Bachchan, we can just assume that Bachchan will try to revisit his ‘bachpan’ in Nikhil Advani’s ‘Mehrunnisa’.  Here are the many films where Big B has been a cradle snatcher if not a sugar daddy:
Khuda Gawah

This epic story of love and glory had Amitabh Bachchan romancing Sridevi, who is 21 years younger than the Badshaah of Bollywood. Despite their dramatic age difference, the film won much acclaim and this mismatched jodi even got nominated for Best Actor and Actress at the Filmfare Awards for their performance.

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan:

This comedy of errors that garnered much attention had Big B cast opposite Ramya who is only 25 years younger than the superstar. While their romance was subtle and subdued and wasn’t the winning factor of the movie, the age difference is certainly a shocker and goes to tell how superstars can be ageless, literally. No wonder the movie was the second biggest grosser of 1998 after ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’.
Lal Baadshah:

This film was probably handcrafted to make it into this list. Our legendary veteran superstar was cast along with Manisha Koirala and Shilpa Shetty. While Manisha is 28 years younger, Shilpa was almost an infant when Big B became well quite big and she’s 33 years younger than him. Unfortunately for Big B, this film was a major flop and served as an eye-opener for the superstar to realise that he needs to opt for roles more suited to his age.
Sooryavansham:

This power-packed family drama has to be the legendary actor’s lowest point. The film was a box office bummer and Big B was pushed to re-consider the kind of roles that he was picking and resign from playing young man that he couldn’t pull off anymore. Here he was cast opposite Soundarya who is 38 years than him and could’ve easily qualified to play his daughter in the film.
Nishabd:

Nishabd

Marred with controversy for picking a daring subject: an older man indulging in a questionable relationship with a younger woman, Nishabd managed to earn enough curiosity among movie goers. While critics were quick to point out the similarities with Hollywood blockbuster ‘American Beauty’, many were just shocked at such a pairing. Unfortunately, the curiosity about the film was short-lived and the film ended up being a complete flop. Bachchan was paired along with Jiah Khan here, who is 45 years younger than the veteran actor.
Cheeni Kum:

Cheeni Kum

This film was well-received by all and the age difference between the lead pair was possibly one of the reasons for its success. Tabu is 29 years younger than Bachchan and their odd chemistry resulted in a cinematic delight. Probably, the only time Bachchan has tasted success in a film where he was paired with an actress much younger than him.
