Anonymous attacks UK government websites

Hacktivist group Anonymous has hacked several UK government websites after it was revealed that Theresa May wanted to read every email in Blighty.
Anonymous hacked multiple UK government websites saying that he country had gone to the dogs and it was becoming worse than draconian states like Syria, Iran, China and the United States.
The sites hit included homeoffice.gov.uk which is the Home Office, number10.gov.uk, Cameron's digs and justice.gov.uk which is the Ministry of Justice.
The technology involved was a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack similar to those used against the Vatican last week. The fear is that with the site down the group is capable of putting in a backdoor into the website so they can pop in later for tea and biscuits.
However there seem to be lots of reasons for Anonymous to go for he UK government. The hackers have also sad that they do not support extradition from the U.K. to the U.S., such as in the cases of Gary McKinnon, Richard O'Dwyer, and Christopher Tappin.
