Use CornellAD ref groups? Plan for Workday

As you may have heard, the planned go-live for Workday is January 2013. Workday will be replacing the HR and payroll functions of PeopleSoft, and will be integrated with Kuali, Taleo, and other Cornell systems.
When Workday goes live, the CornellAD reference groups will be changing. If you use these groups for any IT function, you will need to take action. Some of the ways CornellAD reference groups are being used, for example, are to manage access rights to Windows applications and via CUWebAuth.
What is a reference group?
Currently, reference groups are based on the University HR Organizational Tree (also known as the Department Tree Table) as represented in PeopleSoft database system. Reference groups are created automatically for every level of tree, and are updated at the end of each business day. In CornellAD, these groups are prefaced with “rg.”

Info needed if you use CornellAD reference groups

To build a schedule and represent the IT community’s needs regarding the change to reference groups, Cornell’s Identity Management team requests the following initial information from anyone who is using CornellAD reference groups to support an IT function. Please email to idmgmt@cornell.edu:
  1. IT function that is using CornellAD reference (rg.) groups
  2. Scheduling restrictions, if any, on when changes to the IT function can be made (for example, blackout periods, lead time requirements, downtime windows, etc.)
  3. NetID/phone of person to contact for details
