Supported at the backend by NAVTEQ Traffic Pro (owned by Nokia Location & Commerce), this live service will apparently offer superior coverage with detailed info about traffic speeds on motorways, as well as main and secondary roads. This should help mobile users to get more accurate routes and better estimated travel timings, thus also leading to saving of fuel and time.It would be interesting to know that the traffic data is actually gathered from Nokia smartphones traveling in these cities using the navigation app and is then analysed by NAVTEQ, after which it is made available to all users. Nokia claims to have covered over 1500 km of roads in the two cities and will soon be launching in other cities. Do you happen to use one such handset? Please let us know if the new feature really makes life easier.
