Taiwanese sources name Win8 tablet makers

Yesterday, Bloomberg reported that "fewer than five" ARM tablets would be available at the Windows 8 launch (which, it added, would take place in October). Today, DigiTimes quotes supply chain sources who mention Windows-on-ARM tablet makers by name—yet also suggest devices might not be out until November at the earliest;
Vendors including Samsung Electronics, Sony, Toshiba, Lenovo, Acer and Asustek are expected to launch Windows 8 on ARM (WoA) tablet PCs in early 2013, the sources indicated. However, Nokia may take the initiative to launch 10-inch WoA tablets equipped with Qualcomm processors in November 2012, the sources claimed.
Perhaps the site's information is incomplete, but that wording certainly makes it sound as if Windows-on-ARM devices won't be out in time for the rumored October launch. That would be too bad, especially since DigiTimes says the ARM-based offerings are expected to have "lower costs."
The site does add that Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo will all have Intel-powered Win8 tablets ready in October, though. So, Windows 8 tablets shouldn't be too hard to come by—maybe only ARM-powered ones.
